The implementation of Yogyakarta Chinese Culture Week (PBTY) in 2024 is experiencing changes..
If PBTY is usually held between the Chinese New Year celebrations and culminates in the Cap Go Meh celebration, this year it will be held on March 4-10 2024. The location has also been moved to the Budi Abadi Association building in Bintaran Wetan.
PBTY 2024 has the theme ‘Cultural Preservation for the Country’. Even though the overall implementation of PBTY 2024 is still similar to previous years, there are also very prominent differences. If in previous PBTY events, there was a lot of art displayed, this year the educational side was emphasized more.
Six rooms are made like museums and exhibition halls. Many things related to Chinese culture will be conveyed through this event to the public. An example of a form of education will be a workshop, one of the themes of which is discussing Peranakan batik.
The exhibition rooms will also display Chinese culture that is not widely known to the public, such as lion dances from time to time, prayer tables and their contents, and many other cultures. Apart from showing through PBTY 2024, Chinese cultural education will also be disseminated via social media.
PBTY is an annual agenda in DIY at the national and even international level. PBTY is also one of the superior and priority events in DIY. For this reason, the DIY Regional Government appreciates the cultural education efforts carried out through PBTY 2024.
